About the Author

I was born in southern Ohio in 1968.  I attended public school in the New Boston school system.  After high school graduation in 1987, I attended ShawneeStateUniversity, earning a bachelor’s degree in English/Humanities with certification in Elementary Education.  I earned my Master’s degree in Education from the University of Rio Grande in 2003.  In 2005, I earned National Board Certification in Exceptional Needs as well as Master Teacher status as according to the Ohio Department of Education’s teacher standards.

I currently work as a public schoolteacher for the emotionally disturbed in southern Ohio.  I have also worked as an adjunct Developmental Reading instructor for ShawneeStateUniversity.

I married my wonderful wife Brenda in 1993.  My first daughter Kayla was born in 1996 with Emily following in 1999.  I find great strength and support from my family as they have brought true beauty in my life.

Although I have grown immensely from my educational experiences and my work as a teacher, I truly find sanctuary as a writer.  As an author with a visual impairment, I still find beauty in the written word.  I have spent my life writing short stories, children’s fiction, and poetry, but without the confidence to attempt publication.  I hope the reader enjoys my first novel as much as I enjoyed writing it.
